Hiawatha Community Hospital Appoints John Broberg, as Interim CEO

     HIAWATHA, KANSAS (February 20, 2019) - Greg Rodvelt, President of the Hiawatha Community Hospital Board of Trustees, announced today that John Broberg, MA, FACHE has been appointed as Interim Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Broberg has been in health care for 44 years including 27 years as a senior leader, having been CEO for three different hospitals. After retiring from Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan in 2016, Mr. Broberg started Broberg Consulting Group, LLC to provide executive coaching and interim CEO services.

     As an interim CEO, Mr. Broberg works with the Board, Medical Staff, leadership and staff to improve operational performance and provide stability during transitions. Mr. Broberg was the Interim CEO previously at Hiawatha Community Hospital from October 2016 thru July 2017. This is the fifth time that Mr. Broberg has served as an interim CEO in his career. He knows transitions of the CEO are difficult for every organization, and is committed to working with the hospital and the community to provide stability for the hospital.

     Mr. Broberg attended the board meeting on February 19th to discuss his interim strategy. He has provided leadership to successfully implement culture changing initiatives in four different organizations that resulted in improvement in employee engagement, operational and financial performance.

     Hiawatha Community Hospital is non-profit 25-bed critical access hospital located in Hiawatha, Kansas and serves Northeast Kansas and Southeast Nebraska. The hospital offers acute and swing bed services, OB, surgical services, diagnostic and rehabilitation services, and a 24-hour emergency department. The Medical Services includes family physicians, general surgery and a number of specialists serving the region through our active outpatient clinic.
