Registered Dietitian
Hiawatha Community Hospital is seeking a Registered Dietitian to work Wednesday's from 8:00am-4:30pm for a total of 8 hours per week with opportunity for more hours while Dietitian is on Maternity Leave.

BASIC FUNCTION:
Assist with patient assessments, meal preparation compliance, provide Medical Nutrition Therapy through the Nutrition Care Process on an outpatient and inpatient basis, facilitate diabetes education classes for patients, and plan, oversee and develop all patient menus for the hospital.

QUALIFICATIONS:

-Education:
At minimum, completion of Bachelors in Science in Dietetics or Nutrition and Health and 1200 hour supervised practice program accredited through the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Registration through the Commission of Dietetic Registration and Licensure to practice Dietetics through the State of Kansas.

-Experience:
Previous experience working with quantity cookery, patient menu management, therapeutic diets, group nutrition-education, and program management is preferred. Experience with practicing medical nutrition therapy and utilization of the nutrition care process in the inpatient and outpatient setting required.

-Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to speak, read, write and follow written and oral instructions. Must be able to work management. Maintain compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality.


DUTIES:
1. Perform the nutrition welfare of the HCH patients and staff
2. Perform nutritional screening and assessment via the Nutrition Care Process and according to policy
3. Consult inpatients and provide Medical Nutrition Therapy as required using the Nutrition Care Process and proper documentation
4. Monitor weight, lab data, and PO intake as available on patients determined to be at nutritional risk. Conduct and document physical malnutrition screenings as applicable.
5. Assist and coordinate with NFS Director with ongoing quality assurance program for the Nutrition and Food Services Department as needs are identified by Kitchen Manager and dietitians
6. Document on all swing bed (SNF) patients according to policy and attend care plan meeting as available
7. Provide in-service and training for food service staff as requested, or as need is identified by dietitians
8. Assisting with oversight, planning, and development of all patient menus for the hospital as requested
9. Provide nutritional education to the community when requested and with approval
10. Serve as a clinical resource to provide evidence based materials and information to the HCH wellness team
11. Provide tray line assistance and direction as available and requested
12. Complete continuing education as required to maintain Registration and Licensure
13. Other duties as assigned.
