Employee Health & Education Coordinator
Hiawatha Community Hospital is seeking an Employee Health and Education Coordinator. The position is full-time and hours may vary based on business necessity.

BASIC FUNCTION:
This position is responsible for providing the overall planning, coordination and management of employee health and education to ensure hospital wide compliance is met.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Associates degree in a medical, teaching or business related field, required. Bachelor's degree, preferred. Experience with training and development, preferred.

Certificates, License, Registrations:
Instructor status for BLS must be obtained within 6 months of hire.

Knowledge,Skills and Abilities:
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Must be highly organized. Must possess the ability to communicate with persons of various backgrounds in a tactful, courteous manner. Maintain compliance with HIPAA and patient confidentiality.

Physical:
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally, and/or 10 pounds of force frequently, or negligible constantly. Walking or standing to a significant degree, or sitting constantly and pushing/pulling controls.

Exposure to Hazards:
To reduce job hazards, this position is responsible for wearing PPE during job functions. PPE can include: gloves, gown/coat, shoe covers, head/face, eye and ear protection. Each job function requires a different level of PPE, individuals receive initial and annual training to identify the appropriate level of PPE required
Minimal amount of job hazards.


Equipment Used:
Including but not limited to: Standard office machines including computer, copy machine, multi-line telephone, badge printer, standard printer/fax/scanner. Variety of audiovisual equipment and other teaching instruments.

DUTIES:
1.Consults and serves as a resource on the organization's education requirements and ensures compliance is met
2.Maintains HCH online learning system for all employees to ensure regulatory compliance. Assists new employees with online learning system access and navigation
3.Maintains employee health records and ensures all employees are in compliance based on legal and organizational standards. Meets with new hires to ensure compliance upon entering the organization.
4.Coordinates employee health immunization needs with the Family Practice Clinic
5.Maintains employee illness tracking and reports illnesses accordingly.
6.Maintain easy to access record of all employee class certifications and expiration dates.
7.Coordinates all education courses taught at HCH including but not limited to BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, STABLE.
8.Maintain BLS Training Center and ensure HCH follows the Program Administration Manual (PAM).
9.Coordinates with all leaders in order to understand educational needs and be able to resource information and educational opportunities to meet those needs
10.Post a yearly calendar with sufficient amount of courses to keep all required staff current on their certifications. If staff is unable to attend certification course at HCH prior to expiration, Education Coordinator will assist employee in attending course at a surrounding facility.
11.Timely submits all required paperwork and rosters either online or via mail for obtaining certification cards. Timely provides copies of course completion cards to participants and files a copy in the education files.
12.Prepare for educational classes including but not limited to making schedule, ordering materials, room set up, rosters, distributing materials etc.
13.Recruit additional educators and coordinate their attendance in an instructor course.
14.Coordinates training programs with organizations within the community.
15.Prepares invoices and collects fees for courses.
16.Coordinates competency activities of all HCH staff.
17.Actively participates in and oversees Quality initiatives to bring a focus of improvement and enhancement to the department. Monitor and report on required QA measurements.
18.Coordinates with nursing schools to build relationships and facilitate the usage of HCH as a training/clinical site for nursing students to aide in building a pipeline for recruitment efforts
19.Serve as the contact point with local schools for student job shadows to aide with scheduling and to ensure prerequisite training and education is facilitated
20.Other duties as assigned.
